Break Blog Wk.7: Christmas Surprises!

So this week was all surprises!!!  I couldn’t mention anything in an earlier post in case any of my friends and family would read it, because I surprised everyone by coming home, to Canada, for Christmas!  It was a great surprise, everything went swimmingly.  The long flight was not that enjoyable as there was a 2 year old kicking my seat for about 70% of the time, but I did meet some very nice Australians and had a couple free wines to make the flight go by faster 🙂  If you don’t already know, you can get free alcohol on any international flight!  I had a pretty big night last night after surprising some friends, so this is probably going to be a short post.  I don’t have a ton to talk about this week as not much else has happened.  So hope your lead up to xmas is filled with happiness and maybe some of your own surprises!  Thanks for reading, and be aware and eat with care 🙂

Click on the underlined link above to read a nice little section of a book that gives you tips on how to become a more positive person.  It really made me feel better to know that there are some little tips and tricks to become the person I have always wanted to be, and probably the person you want to be as well, whomever that may be.  It gives you a couple little exercises that help build self-esteem and dive deeper into other ways to look at negative thinking or situations.  I recommended this if your feeling stagnate, just give it a try!  Happy reading! Be aware and eat with care 🙂

Break Blog Wk.6: Volunteer revelations and almost Xmas holidays

So what can I say about this week….?  Not much to be honest. This will probably be a short post. I guess I can say that I had some revelations about my future in relation to volunteer work.  I found an amazing website called Projects Aboard, which has a huge amount of volunteer opportunities all around the world in a number of different modalities, including care volunteering with children and medical opportunities.  I looked around and found a couple that really sparked my interest.  I think as of the end of January I will book a 1 month volunteer excursion to Fiji to help Fijians with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) (diabetes and cardio-vascular disease, etc.) through nutrition and lifestyle programs.  Not only does that help to cement my newly learned nutrition knowledge from last semester, but it will also give me very valuable work experience.  I was also thinking, if all goes well with that excursion, that I would learn French over the year, and next year I will go to Senegal to help street kids in need.  It looks like a pretty amazing experience and I already have basic French so learning more French will just be a benefit.  I highly highly suggest checking out that website.  They have some truly amazing opportunities.   What else happened this week…..  my painting buddy at Manningham centre senior home, probably did one of the best paintings he’s done all year.  I will post it, its pretty nice!  Ummm, other then all of that, I am off on xmas holidays next week, which should be a blast.  Hope your weeks leading to xmas and new years are full of happiness and good times.  Thanks for reading, and be aware and eat with care 🙂
